About the Center for Liberation Studies

The Center for Liberation Studies is a research and educational organization dedicated to exploring structured pathways to human liberation through contemplative training systems. the Center aims to bridge traditional wisdom with contemporary inquiry, offering programs and research that integrate ethical, attentional, and cognitive disciplines for personal transformation.

Our work is grounded in the Arahanism contemplative framework, a rigorous system of practice developed within the Theravāda tradition by the Supreme Arahant, Gautama. This framework emphasizes the sequential cultivation of Sīla (ethical withdrawal), Samādhi (lifting concentration), and Paññā (penetrative wisdom) as the foundational methodology for awakening and entering the Deathless realm (Nibbāna-dhātu)—the complete liberation from the world.

The Center serves multiple strategic functions:

  1. Education and Training – We offer structured programs ranging from foundational practices, such as Kāyagatāsati (Mindfulness Directed to the Body), to advanced samādhi-intensive training. Programs are designed to be academically accessible while preserving doctrinal integrity, allowing participants to experience the transformational processes that lead to liberation.
  2. Research and Contemplative Science – Our research division translates contemplative insights into the language of contemporary science, collecting empirical data, conducting pilot studies, and presenting findings at conferences. This work supports evidence-based understanding of consciousness, ethical regulation, and cognitive transformation.
  3. Outreach and Partnerships – The Center collaborates with universities, interfaith organizations, and mental health institutions to facilitate experiential learning, workshops, and lectures. We engage with institutions, promoting dialogue on human potential, ethical cultivation, and the phenomenology of advanced states of mind.
  4. Communications and Media – Through digital platforms, public lectures, and media content, the Center disseminates knowledge on liberation practices and contemplative science, making these teachings accessible to a wider audience without compromising depth or precision.

While the Center for Liberation Studies functions as the public and academic interface, it embeds the Arahanism framework internally as a deeper system of doctrinal and meditative training. This dual-layer model allows us to integrate seamlessly with institutions while preserving the transformative depth of traditional practices.

Our mission is to advance understanding and practice of liberation through rigorous, experiential, and scientifically-informed contemplative training—supporting individuals in realizing freedom from worldly attachments and the full potential of human consciousness.
